Credit Repair: Don’t Believe The Hype!

Credit Repair: Don’t Believe The Hype!

Many people who have much less than perfect credit and want to realize one of their life long dreams of a major purchase are anxious to get their credit repaired. Many of those same people become targets of individuals and businesses who prey on people in that position. If you are one of those people in that position, I am going to tell you something that is going to help you. You might not want to hear it but it’s the truth. Repairing your credit takes time. It might take several months or a few years. Start today but don’t expect it to be repaired tomorrow. Again, it takes time. But it is worth it.
If you are impatient and/or do not believe me, then let me try to help you to not fall prey to the credit repair companies that are after your money. Their claims may sound enticing but their work is likely to be disappointing. There are are few red flags that can help to identify someone who is misrepresenting themselves. If they promise that they can remove legitimate credit information from your credit report, then look for someone else. Although it would be nice to have your bad credit report wiped clean, that cannot legally be done. They know this. That is why they ask you to pay for their services up front. By the time you realize that you have been cheated, they will be long gone and you will be out of the money you gave them. Again, it takes time to repair your credit. It took time to get into your bad credit situation and it will take you time to get out of it. It may seem like it is taking a long time but it will be worth it.
First, you will need to determine how much money you owe. You may also need to contact your creditors to make payment arrangements, depending on your situation. It will also be important to put together a budget to manage your money and pay your bills on time. Equally as important, you will need to spend less than you make. Then you can begin to make extra payments and begin to save money. If you do not think that you can do this by yourself, then you may need to contact a credit counselor or a financial coach to help you with this process. Some will charge a fee for their services while others will offer their services for free through a non profit organization. Either way, credit repair begins with a mind to change and the patience to see the process through. Start today and watch your dreams start to come true. All the best.
